Fun Family Activities in Wales

An easy 4 hour drive from London, Wales is the perfect destination for a family campervan adventure. With a plethora of campsites, beautiful scenery, rugged coastline and lots of fun things to do Wales is just made for campervanning. Lets go Camper Hire have selected some camper friendly campsites and a some of our favourite things to do for the whole family including animals, adrenaline and culture. So pack up the essentials, load up the camper and don't forget the kids!


Pembroke Castle

When in Wales you must visit a castle and Pembroke Castle has to be up there at the top of the list! Enjoy a historical day out exploring the tunnels, stairways and endless passages which children of all ages will enjoy.


Zip World Blaenau

Thrill-seekers will be in their element at Zip World Blaenau Ffestiniog, home to some of the craziest adrenaline-fuelled activities in Wales for families to enjoy together.


National Showcaves Centre for Wales

This is sure to captivate everyone in the family! Guided tours are available which see you delve 150 metres deep to experience what life was like within the slate mines. Other attractions on site include a playground, a Shire Horse Centre and Farm and an award winning dinosaur park with over 220 life size dinosaur models.


Welsh Mountain Zoo, Colwyn Bay

Home to a wide range of rare and endangered animals, from snow leopards to brown bears, and red pandas to Sumatran tigers, families can spend a lovely day learning more about the zoo's conservation work and get up close to their favourite animals from around the world.


Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre, Caernarfon

Ultimate outdoor adventure experiences, for children aged eight and above who can try their hand at sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and more, all whilst under the guidance of fully qualified instructors

Fforest Fields

The campsite sits in the middle of a large family farm which you are welcome to explore along with access to hundreds of acres of land. There's lakes for fishing and swimming and regular pizza nights for all the family to enjoy! Fantastic onsite facilities including; electric hook-up, a purpose-built shower block with free hot showers, licensed café, kayaks which are free to borrow, fire pits to hire, free site-wide WiFi and much more.


Bert’s Kitchen Garden

Small but perfectly formed intimate boutique campsite set around a kitchen garden, and just a short stroll from the sea. There are 20 tent and 4 camper van pitches to choose from with no hook up, but charging for phones available- phew! As this is a eco friendly site the loos are composting ones and rubbish and recycling bins are provided on site. There is a sociable atmosphere with communal campfires and shared-use barbecues in a designated area. Free tea and coffee are available from the camp pantry and the on-site restaurant has fresh croissants for sale in the morning with homemade cakes and ice cream available in the afternoons. Food, drinks and sharing boards are available in the evenings.
